While I've always had artist talent, I am completely self taught in my "art". I've come to realize it's my eccentricity in the way I think, that illustrations are a form of visual communication for me. Sometimes the ideas and concepts in my head are too difficult to explain with words and require enhanced views seeing it as an illustration, even abstract or metaphysical subjects - I can convey my thoughts more clearly in images, because I am a visual thinker. However, in the traditional sense, I don't see myself as an artist at all. I don't care about the "art" of a given piece I create, only the idea it conveys. And my art is never political (I hate politics of every stripe - I have my own politics but I don't share it, nor need consensus from anybody). I create to communicate only. While my IQ is only 147, and 150 is generally the point where eccentricity starts, I've always known I thought differently than other people. After years of self study, I've come to realize how my brain

Most publishers provide me detail explanations of what needs to be included in a map design, even including rough drafts of what they specifically seek. On the other hand, I just completed five city maps as a freelance commission for Louis Porter Jr. Designs for a Kickstarter project pertaining to city supplements for the Neo Exodus game setting. The only information Louis provided me was estimated city populations, the names of the cities, a regional map showing where the cities are located and brief climate and terrain details, and nothing more. You'll notice the last six maps, include two versions of Awenasa, a jungle city. After completin

Although I've had this account started 8 months ago, I had never posted any art content until yesterday. I primarily post to my FB and G+ communities, where many publishers find me to do map commission work for various RPG modules and supplements. However, yesterday, I also joined outsource.com a site to find freelance work, and in the account application it cued me to post my portfolio. Unfortunately, outsource.com doesn't accept social media sites counting as a portfolio, though it did accept DeviantArt. So for that reason alone I decided it was time for me to post some map content into my account here. About my freelance RPG cartography c

Impressive stuff, have you thought about using galleries? I came having found cool maps and looking for more but found the volume a little hard to sort through

While I've been a member of DeviantArt for years - I don't really know how this site works, I just post content on a continuous basis. I will not pay for the service, as I don't really see a true benefit of the site. It hasn't gotten me work, it's just a place I can point others out to who are interested in my work. Perhaps I should look at the additional tools provided by DeviantArt and create multiple galleries, but I am busy developing content to publish and don't have the time to maximize DeviantArt use, since again, it provides no true benefit to me, I'm not compelled to improve what already doesn't work... I'll look into other galleries, however...
